How should you maintain your Laptop?

Maintaining a laptop can be a hassle for some people who are not familiar with laptops and how they work, and this can lead to some serious problems in the long term. If you don't maintain your system then it's sure to crash and Blue Screen Of Death(BSOD) can appear on your pc anytime, whenever you're gaming or doing any work. Wanna know how to maintain your laptop and keep it in a brand new condition.

Let's get started Then,

1. Cooling Pad and Thermal pasting

The very first accessory you need to buy for your laptop is a cooling pad, the common problem with laptops is that their form-factor limits the manufacturers, in terms of how much cooling potential they can pack in a single laptop only the best of the best laptops have a great cooling solution and if you're experiencing slowdowns on your pc, then it's probably because your cooling solution is limiting you PC and the processor in your laptop is thermal Throttling.

I recommend The ZINQ cooling pad(buy from here), this cooling is for gaming and Editing laptops, and trust me a cooling pad is gonna make your life much easier, it connects directly to your laptop USB power and can be controlled by any Fan controller, I have been using this same cooling pad and it's already showing improvement on my Acer Nitro 5, I'm seeing around 10-20+ Fps in games and the Temperature on the processor and the GPU are Fluctuating between 60-75 Celcius compared to before when even if I would ramp up the fans to fullest it would hit 85c while gaming and now let us get to office laptops. office laptops don't get as hot as gaming laptops, so they don't need such a beefy cooling pad like the ZINQ but still a cooling pad is going to help in the smooth workflow, I know that many of the office laptop owners don't clean their laptops and then would cry for braking their own machine. so here's the cooling pad that is adequate for office use.

As I said earlier. Office laptops don't need much cooling, so the ZINQ Cool slate( Buy here) or equivalent is more than enough for cooling an office laptop. Now let's move on to the other half of this Point

Thermal pasting

Thermal pasting is the most important part of maintaining and lasting life of your laptop, thermal paste goes directly on the processor which helps transfer heat from the processor to the cooling pipes found in a laptop, overtime the thermal paste that was already there by the manufacturer gets hard and the heat transfer between the processor and the heat pipes isn't as efficient as it used to be when the laptop was bought. and it can be a bit risky and difficult for a novice user, so you might want to take help from someone who is experienced.

The above-given image is of a PC but for a laptop, you will find that there is no IHS(Internal heat spreader), it will be bare open on your laptop. If you're going to do this yourself you might wanna consider these guides from Ifixit and FSixTech From youtube in a video format.

IFixit- Guide to thermal pasting

Note:-cheap and expensive thermal pastes can affect performance marginally

2. Keeping your display clean

You can say that this section is the second most important after the performance when considering the life of your system, One of the most common things that people do is they don't even bother to clean their displays of any dirt, and eventually that dust sticks on the display itself and will become stuck unless using an intensive cleaning method or solution which at some degree damages your display, most of the laptops that are sold today especially, office laptops include a glossy display and manufacturers do this to remove the degradation of slight quality that occurs when a matte coat is over a display.

3. cleaning your keyboard

when it comes to keyboards all that matters is the feel of the keyboard and keeping the feel of your laptop brand new will be the main focus of this section, if you've bought a new laptop, then it would be a great idea to buy a keyboard cover and keep any dust or gross fingerprints away from your keyboard, they are cheap and help in a long term, you can find keyboard covers for your particular laptop model

Once you put on the keyboard cover you won't even realize that there's a cover, it fits on your laptop's keyboard flawlessly.
